Trivia: Most of the film clips in this documentary are from “Soundies,” three-minute short films made to be shown on self-contained coin-operated projectors in public places as a sort of video jukebox. In the Nat “King” Cole sequence two images of him appear, one at a table in a restaurant and one performing on voice and piano with his trio as a film-within-a-film being projected on a Soundie machine.
