Trivia: The film depicts Baum acting on the stage when his father’s theatre burned down. In reality, the theatre burned down during a production of his drawing room comedy, “Matches”, while Baum was on tour as the male lead in another of his plays, “The Maid of Arran”, and hence did not actually witness the fire.
Movie: Dreamchild (1985)
“Exploring the somewhat darker and more mysterious side of the Lewis Carroll’s classic book, the movie follows Alice Liddell (the book’s inspiration) as an old woman who is haunted by the characters she was once so amused by. As she thinks back on it, she starts to see her relationship with the shy author/professor in a new way and realizes the vast change between the young Alice and the old. Written by Max Vaughn”
Trivia: The character of Lucy was entirely fictional. When Alice Liddell Hargreaves came to the States to celebrate Lewis Carroll’s birth she was accompanied by her son Caryl and her sister Rhoda.
Goofs: Anachronisms: During the tea dance Jack and Lucy waltz to “I Only Have Eyes For You.” The scene is set in 1932, but the song was not written until 1934.
